About

Samah

Samah Abdulhamid (Syria, 1990) is a multidisciplinary artist, musician, and Gestalt therapist based in Mexico. Her practice unfolds at the intersection of art, the body, and human experience, where creative expression becomes a way of exploring memory, migration, identity, femininity, and processes of transformation.

Working across printmaking, monotype, woodcut, voice, and other expressive media, Samah creates images that inhabit the threshold between presence and absence, revelation and concealment. Her visual language is shaped by layering, texture, and traces—inviting viewers to linger in what is not immediately visible and to encounter ambiguity as a space of depth rather than uncertainty.

Her research is deeply informed by her experience as an Arab woman living between cultures, as well as by an ongoing interest in the psychological, symbolic, and spiritual dimensions of existence. Rather than offering fixed narratives, her work opens spaces for reflection on cultural stereotypes, belonging, freedom, and the ways we continually shape and reshape our sense of self.

Alongside her artistic practice, Samah facilitates workshops, teaches Arabic language and culture, and accompanies individuals through Gestalt therapy. While these disciplines take different forms, they are united by a shared intention: to cultivate awareness, creativity, and authentic encounter. Whether through image, sound, language, or dialogue, her work invites moments of presence, curiosity, and connection—with ourselves, with others, and with the stories that continue to shape us.
